Episode 16: Carol 2: The Meltdown

I revisit "The Hate Project: Episode 21" which aired on February 18, 2013. Bonkers episode that includes a hateful yet informative debate between resident klansman Dragon 1488 and African-American sports host/sage Najradio, a call from "Carol", and a couple of calls -one prank, one sincere - advocating for a white ethnostate.  I have a bit of a meltdown in the last hour of the aforementioned episode, because I'm accused by a listener of being a closet neo-nazi. I explain why I broke down and the lead up to this confrontation in the intro of this episode. Also some discussion of the Covington Catholic high school MAGA kids harassing Native American war veteran Nathan Phillips on January 19th, 2019, on top of other horrible activities at that school

Episode 15: Accommodation of Hate

I revisit "The Hate Project - Episode 20" (originally aired February 11, 2013) in which Neo-Nazi McBride calls back in, and so does one of his neo-nazi colleagues who I refer to as "South Carolina" on this show. The resident klansman Dragon1488 calls in, as does the Nurse1488.  I reflect on this show from today 2018 and question why I'm accommodating and polite to the hate-mongers who call in, and whether I'm moving towards having an honest dialogue with these folks or if my show is just being used to spread hate.

Episode 14: White Extremism and Our Unpreparedness to Face It.

I revisit "The Hate Project - Episode 19" originally broadcast on February 4, 2013. I have a long conversation with Dragon1488, the klansman who is a regular caller on this show. Roman also calls in, challenges Dragon on his hateful anti-Semitic views by mentioning the family members he will never know because they died in the Holocaust. Dragon and I debate the Bible.  Dragon also admits he works at a major Fortune 100 company, and that he fires black employees more than white employees.  Upon reflection, I am a little too casual in this conversation and I wonder if the congeniality I share with this klansman is irresponsible, even if my intentions are good.  Also discussion of the Tinley Park 5, law enforcement's current inadequacy in confronting white extremism, and white nationalist brothers Jeremy and Edward Clark.

Episode 13: Racism Booth / Forgotten White Men / Assault Rifle Ownership

I revisit "The Hate Project: Episode 18" broadcast on MLK Day January 21st, 2013. I pitch a business idea for booths that allow people to pay to say racist words in private.   African-American sports radio host NajRadio offers sympathetic perspective on white men who are left behind, and feel they have no access to the white privilege often attributed to them, but we also talk about the powerful people who take advantage of them.  Resident Klansman Dragon 1488 calls in, offers a very reasonable explanation on why regular citizens should not be allowed to own assault rifles, surprising given his ideology and membership of a hate group. I offer commentary at the very beginning reflecting on these conversations with discussion on recent events such as the shooting in Thousand Oaks, CA and the shooting of Jemel Roberson in Chicago.

Episode 12: The Call is Coming from Inside Our Borders / Please VOTE

I revisit "The Hate Project: Episode 17" released on January 7th 2013.  There is a debate between Neo-Nazi McBride and African-American sports radio host NajRadio that ends up being contentious but respectful. They debate immigrants and millennials, McBride espouses talking points about immigrants attempting to come to the U.S. that have existed within hate groups for a long time, but I discuss how these viewpoints have found concrete legitimacy within the mainstream right-wing ecosystem all the way up to the White House. I also discuss current domestic hate terrorism and the actual death and damage connected to it. Also, be sure to vote.

Episode 11: The Carnage is the Point

I begin by talking about the past week (Oct 21-27 2018) of domestic terrorism from the #MAGABomber, the white supremacist murderer in Kentucky, and the anti-semitic massacre at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Then, I revisit "The Hate Project, Ep. 16" which was broadcast on Christmas Eve 2012. I gave Martin Lindstedt, pastor in the Christian Identity movement, an uninterrupted interview. It's an often incoherent dialogue. Lindstedt describes his dysfunctional family background, embracing white supremacy in the Christian Identity movement, and the allegations against him as a child molester of his grandson. He specifically blames the state for stealing his grandchildren and family, and this serves as justification for wanting a civil war, and his welcoming of carnage and chaos in destroying our civilization as we know it.  This one is hard, because in trying to foster a real in-depth dialogue in order to understand hate and hate groups, it feels like I just gave a platform to a pedophile white supremacist without the value of edification. However, I did share this interview from the past to allow people to make connections between the talking points espoused by a fringe lunatic like Lindstedt and what we are hearing in America from the current Presidential administration and the right-wing conservative ecosphere, including the folks who have carried out the most recent terrorist attacks this past week.

At the top, I go off about Gavin Mcinnes's hate gang Proud Boys and the violence they were involved in both in NYC and Portland on Oct 12-13, 2018.  I revisit "The Hate Project Episode 15" in which I interview Martin Lindstedt, unhinged pastor, possible pedo. He mentions working with Louis Beam, a figure that paved a path for the current alt-right. A member of the Neo-Nazi national socialist movement calls in from Delaware, discusses his Pagan beliefs and how he became a white nationalist. Episode 9: The Tim Burton of Hate

Revisiting "The Hate Project 14" which aired on December 10th, 2012.  My guest co-host was Roman (who you can hear on Paradox of Civility Episode 5). The klansman Dragon1488 calls back in, Roman is able to challenge him in a peaceful and intelligent manner. Dragon describes how he thinks gay people are living a life of evil, yet he knows some gay people and likes them. He continues to demonstrate insight into socio-economic political machinations, yet chooses hate even though it is part of the problem.

Episode 8: Klansman is woke, but still chooses racism / Miseducation

Revisiting "The Hate Project" which aired on 11/12/2012. This episode features two long phone conversations.  The first is with Dragon1488, the resident klansman. He demonstrates a very insightful understanding of racism and the honest mentality of white people, but still can't help reverting to being racist. Then his friend EdClanofChattan calls in, gives revisionist version of slavery, and he also shares how he began to come to his white supremacist worldview from a comment made by his father.  The klansman talks about his wife, and how he would quit the klan if she wanted him to. I play some clips from Tucker Carlson tonight which mirror some themes from these phone calls. Both maintain a veneer of intellectual discussion, but then slip into raw hatred. Enjoy.

Episode 5: Real Klansman, Fake George Takei, Social Justice, Geekdom

This episode features two clips from Episode 5 & Episode 9, respectively, of "The Hate Project".  Ep. 5 features a phone conversation with a friend named Roman in which we touch on social justice, the sources of our own anger, why the right-wing gets its way, my experience growing up Indian in Texas.

Episode 9 features a phone call from a real member of the Ku Klux Klan, the first call of many throughout "The Hate Project". Before that, it's a phone call from someone impersonating George Takei.  To complicate matters, someone who hosts a show called "Michigan Radio Geeks" calls in and tries to bond with fake Takei while I try to facilitate a conversation with the klansman.  I offer commentary and reflection before and after these phone calls.

Episode 4: Fascist Aggression - Online and IRL

This one is a little heavy on my present day rant - I address a White Nationalist march in NYC in a park that hits too close to home. Also talk of Portland and Berkeley rallies/clashes with fascists and counterprotesters this past weekend (Aug 4th-5th). I replay a montage of the last of the "The Hate Project" episodes from 2012 on Blog Talk Radio, where I talk about a bodega incident and discovering online hate group websites like Stormfront.

This episode is a compilation of clips from the very first week of my online radio show "The Hate Project".  I was trying different time slots with my BlogTalkRadio account after my very first episode, and ended up with a variety of content. Episode 1: Launching "The Hate Project"

I explain the inspiration behind creating "The Hate Project" - an online radio show designed to allow racist, sexist, homophobic people to call in and express their true feelings.  As an Indian-American, I wanted to learn about the source of bigotry and why it happens. I talk about re-visiting this experiment and reflecting on it in the age of Trump.  I then play the very first episode of this radio show, and then add a little commentary afterwards.
